Assistance Programs Offered by Veterans

With an MBA from the University of San Francisco, Michael "Mickey" Joseph Gerold is a captain in the United States Army. As a veteran in the Army, Michael Joseph Gerold is a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), which advocates for veterans' interests across the country.

VA claims and separation benefits are the priorities for the VFW, as they understand how difficult it can be to make claims to the Department of Veterans Affairs. VFW established the National Veterans Service, which consists of a network of experienced and accredited VA service officers and pre-discharge representatives whose sole job is to help veterans with their next steps. VFW facilitates the Unmet Needs program is aimed at veterans and their families who are in financial need. This program offers grants of up to $1,500 for veterans who need assistance for their basic life needs. They will even pay creditors directly.

VFW also offers different scholarships for student veterans who meet the eligibility criteria. The 1 Student Veteran program is in place to help veteran students access their benefits. There is also a VFW-SVA Fellowship which accepts 10 exceptional students each year. VFW also focuses on wellness by offering veterans access to services to overcome mental health issues.
